When it comes to commercial roofing, a little prevention can go a long way in protecting your property, people, and products. One way to insure a healthy roof is to give it an annual “checkup,” or inspection, to make sure it is performing as it should.

When Should I Get My Roof Inspected?

The optimal time for an annual inspection is during the transition from winter to spring, when snow melting off the roof can reveal the location and extent of any leaks. Even without snowmelt, however, a pre-spring inspection is best. A good inspector will be able to find leaks, which is key before the rainy season begins.

In addition to your annual inspection, plan to personally inspect your roof an additional time per year, ideally in the fall. Just make sure you schedule a professional inspection at least once per year, as they can spot items that may be overlooked by the untrained eye. 

What Is Covered During an Inspection?

A roof inspection is about more than checking for leaks. A professional inspector will follow a checklist that covers a number of details essential to evaluating the condition of your roof.

• Inform us whether there is secure roof access. If not, we need to know the height of the roof so we can bring the appropriate ladder to access the roof.

• Receive a copy of the inspection checklist, photos, and a summary of findings and recommendations, if any.
